A sustainability assessment is a fundamental working method for starting a sustainability journey: it is a tool that captures the company’s as-is state, providing insights from which to start understanding the strengths and areas for improvement of the business system.
Understanding how sustainable a company is means analyzing and managing the variables that can become enabling elements to create economic, social, and environmental well-being at the same time. The analyses allow for the investigation of various dimensions: the social dimension, through qualitative surveys on employee perception; the environmental dimension, regarding the impacts of the company and its supply chain; and the economic-financial dimension, which highlights the creation and distribution of the value generated.
The journey undertaken with Maglificio Alto Milanese, in collaboration with Servizi Confindustria Varese and the Askesis consultants, lasted about three months and developed through periodic meetings between the project team and specialists from various areas. The result was a final document representing a cross-sectional overview of the entire company.
“The sustainability assessment process undertaken with Askesis offered us a valuable opportunity to reflect deeply on the sustainable dimension of our company. We were able to gain a deeper understanding of the concrete and strategic steps to be taken to integrate sustainability into every aspect of our business, with the goal of becoming a Benefit Corporation.”
